  • Abstract: The article presents a systematic overview of the development of émigré studies (émigrantology) within Polish Russian studies, covering the period from the late 1980s to the early 2020s. It focuses on the institutionalization process of this interdisciplinary field that integrates methodological approaches from history, cultural studies, literary criticism, and social sciences. The work analyzes contributions from leading Polish research centers, including Jagiellonian University and University of Warsaw, as well as the activities of the Commission for Slavic Émigré Studies under the International Committee of Slavists. Special attention is given to the theoretical frameworks developed by Professor L. Suchanek, who formulated the conceptual foundations of the discipline, including the anthropological model of “homo emigrans” and geopoetic analysis of émigré space. The author identifies three main research directions: study of literary heritage, analysis of cultural institutions, and reconstruction of ideological movements within the Russian diaspora. The article includes a review of the most significant publications by Polish scholars, demonstrating the evolution from documentary research to theoretical synthesis. It concludes by emphasizing the substantial contribution of the Polish school to developing émigrantology as an independent scholarly discipline with its own methodology.
