Abstract: Oleg Korostelev’s work with the Russian émigré archival heritage especially with its epistolary is a great achievement of contemporary emigrantica. In their studies including the publication of “Sovremennye zapiski” editorial board archive the scholar and his associates proposed a perfect model of research, commentary and publishing work with the epistolary of Russia Abroad. The article is focused on Sergei Gessen’s letters in Nikolas Gants archive in London. The correspondence between the outstanding Russian philosopher and educator and his friend, an eminent British specialist in comparative education, started in 1920s and lasted till late 1940s. The scholars had close friendly and creative relations since 1923, co-worked on the book titled “Educational Policy in Soviet Russia” (London, 1930) and its German translation. Gessen’s letters contain important details clarifying and supplementing a lot in his biography as well as in the political, cultural and pedagogical life of the first wave Russian emigration. Most of the letters cited in the article are introduced into scientific circulation for the first time.
