Abstract: The article explores the phenomenon of individual protest in the biography of the writer Alexei Remizov who uses the image of the so-called ‘little man’ to ridicule and expose his famous contemporaries. The main genre that describes such situations of ridicule and exposure is the anecdote, the basis of which is a joke, a prank, or a hoax with the participation of Remizov himself.
