Abstract: The article deals with an analysis of the interview with L.D. Plante, who was Deputy Director of Chekhov Publishing House (1951–1956). In the interview Plant provides unique data on the publishing house’s activities, characterizes employees, describes the publishing house’s relations with the Ford Foundation and the Free Russia Fund / East European Fund.
