Аннотация: В статье рассматривается концепция французской культуры в творческом наследии П.М. Бицилли. Доказывается, что положения работ П.М. Бицилли 1930‑х гг. для понимания французской культуры имеют не только историческое, но и теоретико-методологическое значение. Благодаря прекрасному знанию конкретной истории Франции П.М. Бицилли удалось выявить типологические черты французской культуры. Русский ученый предложил оригинальное объяснение лидерству Франции в истории европейской культуры. Вывод П.М. Бицилли о том, что главным условием целостности культуры Франции была непрерывность на протяжении «восьми столетий царствования одной династии», свидетельствовал о блестящем владении методом синтетического анализа прошлого. Констатируя в середине 1930‑х гг. важный «рубеж» в культурной истории Франции, П.М. Бицилли предостерегал об опасности культурного сепаратизма, культурных революций и радикальных смен культурных ориентиров. Теория культуры П.М. Бицилли, основанная на синтетическом осмыслении культурного опыта Франции, как это часто бывало, осталась невостребованной культурными практиками и политиками.

Culture of France: From the Middle Ages to the Beginning of the 20th Century in the Creative Heritage of Piotr Bitsilli
Abstract: The article deals with the concept of French culture in the creative heritage of Piotr M. Bitsilli. It is proved that the provisions of Bitsilli’s works of the 1930s have not only historical, but also theoretical and methodological significance for understanding French culture. Thanks to his excellent knowledge of the specific history of France, Bitsilli was able to identify typological features of French culture. A Russian scholar offered an original explanation for France’s leadership in the history of European culture. Bitsilli came to the conclusion that the main condition for the integrity of French culture was immutability during the “eight centuries of one dynasty’s reign”, which testified to his brilliant synthetic analysis of the past. Stating in the mid-1930s an important “milestone” in the cultural history of France, Bitsilli warned of the danger of cultural separatism, cultural revolutions and radical changes of cultural orientations. Bitsilli’s theory of culture, based on a synthetic understanding of the cultural experience of France, as it often happened, remained unclaimed by cultural practitioners and politicians.
