Main Professional Activity
Worked as an engineer at the Moscow Aggregate Plant "Dzerzhinets" (now JSC "Aeroelektromash") (1977–1981); Senior Engineer-Programmer at ENIMS (1981–1983); at the State Computing Center of the USSR Ministry of Education (1983–1989). Since late August 1989, he has been working at the Literary Institute. Member of the Writers' Union of Russia.
Biography
Born in Moscow in 1954. Graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute with a specialization in "Automated Control Systems" in 1977. Worked as a programmer in various institutions. In 1989, he graduated from the Gorky Literary Institute (correspondence department). Has been working at the Literary Institute since late August 1989. Defended his Candidate of Sciences dissertation titled "The Genre of 'The Recluse' in 20th-Century Russian Literature" in 1995. Over the years, he has taught courses such as "The Works of V.V. Rozanov," "Russian Literature and Russian Music at the Turn of the 19th and 20th Centuries," "Features of the Artistic Consciousness of Russian Writers of the First Half of the 20th Century," "Russian Literature of the 1940s–1990s," "Literature of the Russian Diaspora," and "Main Trends in 20th-Century Russian Literature." His primary occupation is reflected in his bibliography. His main leisure activity is classical music.

- Laureate of the literary prize of the State Academic Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra named after P.I. Tchaikovsky (artistic director and chief conductor V.I. Fedoseyev) as part of the jubilee festival "Faith, Hope, Love..." (2005).
- Laureate of the "Imperial Culture" Prize named after Eduard Volodin in 2014 in the "Prose" category for the book in the "Lives of Remarkable People" series, Rachmaninoff (2014).
